Many persons who find themselves single again in the last half of their life hold on to fears and beliefs. That can handicap their chances for happiness at this stage of life. This article will look at some of those limiting beliefs and expose or debunk them.
• Older men only want to date younger women. Truth or fiction?
While it is true that some over 50 men prefer to date younger women, it is by no means the majority. Actually, men prefer women closer to their own age. The levels of maturity and life experience, make for a much more pleasant senior citizen dating experience if they are reasonably close together.
• I'm afraid I will have to change my lifestyle. Will I?
It's doubtful that anyone will be expected to make major changes in their lifestyle.
You may actually want to adapt somewhat, at times. For instance: his favorite movies to rent are John Wayne Westerns, hers are anything with Fred Astair. So, you compromise and adapt. It's not so hard. And it's not permanent!
• Men think every formerly married woman is trash and an easy mark for sex.
Senior citizens have emotional needs and a sex drive, just as younger persons. It may be that those formerly married understand the beauty of a sexual relationship more than those quite young.
But to say that men believe the women who recognize these needs are trashy or an easy mark, is just wrong. Most men respect women who understand their own needs and honor their sexuality.
That older men and women respect one another as sexual beings is much closer to the truth.
• Every man is a con man; every woman a gold digger. Are they?
Every? Come on, now. There have been too many cases where older women have been filched out of their wealth. This is true. But, to put such a label on every man is ludicrous.
And, it makes no sense to label every woman a gold digger. Women hold most of the wealth in this world. When Senior Citizens are dating it is quite possible that she has more money than he does. Gold-digger? Very doubtful.
We've only talked of a few of the points that cause persons to be hesitant to start dating over 50. It can be such a pleasant time of life it is a shame if people don't take advantage of the happiness that can be found in Senior Citizen Dating.
Of course there can be bad experiences. It is the way of life. But, persons who are honest and use good common sense can have a happy and fulfilling second half of life. And be happy to be dating over 50!
